I am an antitrust economist at the Belgian Competition Authority. My days are mainly divided between cartel cases, merger/acquisition clearance, and abuse of dominance investigations.
In my spare time, I conduct research in my other area of expertise: corporate tax avoidance. My interests revolve around multinational enterprises and foreign direct investments in tax havens. I combine quantitative methods with insights from accounting, international business, and management to shed light on profit shifting patterns.
My research in business taxation has received several awards, for instance from:
the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research (Best PhD dissertation in all fields of science),
the United Nations (Best Research Work on International Investment and Development), and
the EU Tax Observatory (Young Researcher Award).
I hold a PhD in Economics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, an MRes in Eonomics from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and an Engineering degree in Statistics from ENSAE Paris.
